Studying sucks

When I was in high school I was able to get mostly A's without trying, I wouldn't do very well on exams but the homework was relatively easy so I maintained a good GPA. When I got to college everything was different. All of the classes I was taking were graded mostly on exams. In my Greek Mythology class I had a total of three exams that determined my final grade in the class. I had to read the literature and attend lecture and then take the exam. I learned quickly that I am not a test taker at all. My study habits were non-existent so of course I was failing exams. I went to the study center in campus and they did a test to see how I learn best, I discovered that I was a hands on learner. I need to be able to work with my hands in order to get the most benefit out of my learning. It really helped me to focus my studying on ways that I was likely to be successful. I know that psychology is probably not a major for me because it consists mainly of reading and memorization from a book, there is not a lot of hands on learning to be done in psych. I've changed my major about 50 million times but that was necessary for me to find something that I can learn easily. There is no point in holding onto a major that I can't succeed in just because I think it would be really cool in the end. I had to let go of the idea of forcing myself to learn a new way and just accept the way my brain works. The resources that the school provided were really helpful to me and I was able to find a major that works for me. I also found out that I would make a very good paramedic because of the process that they go through in order to learn their material.
